Redistricting Fellowship Program

Redistricting Fellows will work with advocates from the Georgia Redistricting Alliance (GRA) to equip and support communities across Georgia to both act as the “eyes and ears” notification system lost after the Shelby decision, and to engage meaningfully in the redistricting process, from demystifying the process to producing, analyzing and advocating for maps.

About the Program

  • Fellows will be hosted by one of the Host Organizations:  ProGeorgia, Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda, GALEO, or Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta (AAAJ-ATL). Fellows will not work exclusively with these organizations, rather they will work with host organizations and GRA to develop an outreach strategy to Black, Latinx, AAPI/ AMEMSA, and other immigrant/ refugee communities.

  • Fellows will undergo training on how to use communities of interest (COI) online mapping tools,  Maptitude for Redistricting software; they will work with member organizations of GRA to develop a plan for engaging local communities in COI work.

Fellows will execute their individualized plan with support, resources, and ongoing training from GRA, ProGA and host organizations. Additionally, fellows will receive a laptop and a license to map-drawing software.

  • Fellows will meet regularly for on-going training and to share experiences across communities.

  • At the end of their first year, the Fellow and their supervisor will assess whether they would like to continue to a second year.
